College: A Time of Wonder

This story starts off by talking about a person's first year in college.  The person usually has a mixed bag of emotions about leaving home and going to college.  The main emotions are being scared,  nervousness, and excitment.  The articale talks about how schools should try to make student's first year easier by having activities and programs that will help the student learn how to handle different sitauations they may be involved in in the future.  College is only 4 years, it's too short to be scared and nervous and not live it up.

Public Intellectual

I believe Oprah Winfrey is a stong example of a puplic intellectual.  She is on the 20th and final seasons of her ever popular "Oprah Winfrey Show"   She has covered every topic under the sun and has touched so many poeples lives and given so much to those is need.  She rallys for public candidates and is the most influential woman in the world.

What is Literacy?

I believe literacy is how well an individual can read and comprehend the material that was read.
